Almath Crucibles offers a variety of MACOR® Machinable Glass Ceramic Products.
MACOR® can be considered a unique, technical material with a composition comprising 55% fluorophlogopite mica and 45% borosilicate glass. The white, ordorless and non-outgassing material exhibits zero porosity and is favoured due to its ability to machined with ordinary metalworking/machining tools rather than more expensive diamond tooling required to machine hard materials such as alumina.
MACOR® comes with a wide range of benefits:
- Easily machinable
- Withstands high temperatures
- Low thermal conductivity
- Holds tight tolerances
- Electrical insulator
- Zero porosity and no outgassing
- Strong & rigid
- Highly polishable
- Can be soldered to a wide range of material
- Radiation resistant
- Lead free
MACOR® has a wide range of industry applications, it can help to drive value in numerous fields:
