New CNC Lathe 2018!

Almath have recently invested in a new CNC lathe that when combined with our Solidworks drawing package results in the following benefits:

• Faster delivery of tooling reducing lead times for specials and bespoke orders
• An improved surface finish on tooling resulting in smoother moulds, in turn improving the surface finish on the final product (in the months to come we hope to replace all of our tooling with CNC machined items).
• The improvement in quality also ensures crucibles demould quicker and with greater ease.
• CNC machined tools are precision engineered, the potential for mistakes made in the production of the tooling are marginalised. If the drawings are correct, so is the tooling.
• Multiple versions of tooling are quick and easy to produce, speeding up delivery of volume orders of non-standard products.

In the future we plan to offer simple cylindrical alumina shapes turned on the CNC lathe using diamond tooling. We have recently tested the process and found results extremely positive.
