King’s Award for Enterprise Innovation
Almath are proud to announce that we have won the King’s Award for Innovation to add to our Queen’s Award for export!
Almath Crucibles Ltd is one of only 59 companies to receive an innovation award, which celebrates British organisations exhibiting substantial innovation and commercial success.
We have been awarded this for our groundbreaking development in the production of fully vitrified Magnesium Oxide (MgO) crucibles, a significant advancement in materials science that caters to high-temperature industrial applications. These MgO crucibles are vital in processes such as molten salt electrolysis, metal smelting, and slag confining, providing a much-needed solution within the nuclear industry and beyond. Almath are one of the first companies in the UK and Europe to manufacture these components.
It’s taken Almath 9 years of research and development work to produce crucibles in MgO, with many people working on it over the years. It really has been a team effort. Dr Yu has been with Almath for 2 years and has been instrumental in overcoming the final hurdle of production of MgO crucibles.
Michael Misson, our Managing Director, stated, “This award is not only a recognition of our innovation but also a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. We are committed to advancing the UK’s capabilities in high-tech manufacturing and are honoured to lead the way in supplying critical industries across Europe with uniquely British products”.
