We can now offer a wide range of stock and custom made machined alumina ceramics.
Over the many years we have been operating we have been asked to make many different shapes and intricate ceramic pieces made in high purity alumina. We are now able to fulfill many of these requests for machined cylindrical parts on our new CNC machine.
Alumina, is also known as Aluminum Oxide or Al2O3. The material is a durable advanced technical ceramic that is used in a wide variety of industrial applications and to a great degree. The material is very hard and resistant to wearing, it resistant to erosion, corrosion and high temperatures. It is the most commonly used material in the manufacture of advanced ceramics and we offer it at Almath in a range of purities from 95% to 99.9% depending on the product/part you are ordering (we label clearly the purity of each product so you always know what you will be purchasing).
The majority of our crucibles at Almath Crucibles are produced using the slip cast method of manufacturing ceramics. We do however also offer products made by process of injection moulding, die pressing, isosostatic pressing, or extrusion.
In manufacturing Alumina ceramics, the product must first be fired and then sintered, as the material is very hard wearing and temperature resistant; it is only possible for machined alumina ceramics to be made using diamond-grinding methods. At Almath we use a range of diamond tipped drills and grinding pads in order to machine our Alumina ceramic material into useful technical ceramic components (washers, nozzles and a wide range of other parts).
At Almath we are also able to supply biscuit fired Alumina if you wish to machine the product yourselves.
